The Boardman Coal Plant was an approximately 550 MW coal-fueled electric generating power plant located in Morrow County. The plant was issued a site certificate in 1975, was constructed and placed into service in 1980, and ceased operation on October 15, 2020. The facility is planned to be decommissioned and demolished by end of 2023. The following related or supporting facilities will remain in place for the Carty Generating Station adjacent to the Boardman Coal Plant, subject to approval of Carty Generation Station Amendment #2, which is currently under review : water tank, construction substation, 230 kV transformer and 230 kV transmission line from Boardman to Dalreed substation, Carty Reservoir and all associated infrastructure for maintaining and withdrawing from the reservoir, discharge channel, 500 kV transformers and 500 kV transmission line from Boardman to Grassland switchyard, 500 kV transmission line from Grassland switchyard to Slatt substation. The following related or supporting facilities may remain in place for other PGE uses: diesel fuel tank, parking lots, and rail throughout the site. All other buildings and infrastructure will be decommissioned and demolished. The Coal Combustion Residual (CCR) landfill, will be closed in accordance with Federal CCR requirements contained in 40 CFR Part 257, Subpart D. |
