The Oregon Department of Education and the Oregon Health Authority co-facilitate a School Medicaid Advisory Committee (SMAC). The SMAC is an informal advisory body of 20 members representing school health professionals, education administrators, parents, advocacy groups, and other individuals that bring expertise related to School Medicaid and school health services. The SMAC will review and analyze federal rules and regulations, state statute and rule, Oregon’s State Plan Amendment, and other state School Medicaid programs with the goals of:
- Maximizing School Medicaid billing in Oregon
- Removing barriers to participation
- Developing and updating training and resources Increasing the number of participating school districts
- Continuous program improvement
