Practitioner Documentation

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, require education agencies to provide health services if they are needed for a student to access their education. This ensures that all students, regardless of ability or health needs, have access to a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). Licensed practitioners provide access to school health services and foster an inclusive environment that meets diverse learning needs, allowing students with health-related needs to attend school, learn, build social skills, and grow in confidence. These outcomes provide a strong foundation for lifelong success, wellness, and well-being, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment for all. These resources are designed to help school administrators and licensed practitioners navigate the crossover between health and education and support compliance with licensing board rules and regulations, which apply regardless of setting.
