Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) for K-12 Schools

The field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will continue to grow at a rapid pace, with new abilities, new platforms, and new functions appearing frequently.  This website includes resources to support educators with the rapid evolvement of Generative AI in K-12 education settings. 

Announcements

ODE recently updated resources for the use of generative Artificial Intelligence (genAI) in Oregon schools (for a one-page summary of the latest pages, please see here):
Generative Artificial Intelligence in K-12 Classrooms offers general guidance for Oregon school and district leaders planning, implementing and evaluating genAI tools into their school culture. 
Developing Policy and Protocols for the Use of Generative AI in K-12 Classrooms guides leaders through a process for developing guidance or policy related to the safe, ethical, equitable, and effective use of genAI.

  • Common Sense Media - AI Foundations for Educators - This is a foundational course designed to introduce you to artificial intelligence and the ethical considerations you should keep in mind when integrating this technology into your teaching
  • Classroom-Ready Resources About AI For Teaching (CRAFT) - This resource from the Stanford Graduate School of Education is aimed at high school teachers helping students explore, understand, question and critique AI
  • Harvard University - The AI Pedagogy Project - This site from the metaLAB at Harvard offers educational resources and assignments for teaching AI, focusing on critical and creative engagement with AI tools in the classroom
