Integrated Pest Management Plan
The
Healthy and Safe Schools (HASS) Plan promotes transparency around how
Integrated Pest Management is conducted by school districts, ESDs, and charter schools by requiring the school to provide a link to their IPM plan. Pest and pesticides can be dangerous to students and staff. Pests, like mice, rats, and mosquitos are vectors for diseases. Some insects’ bites and stings can cause deadly allergic reactions. However, some pesticides can be very dangerous as well, therefore it is important to have an IPM plan to reduce pests and pesticide use in our schools. The IPM Plan required by
ORS 634.700-.750 focuses on long-term prevention or suppression of pest problems through economically sound measures that:
- Gives preference to nonchemical pest control measures
- Protect the health and safety of students, staff and faculty
- Protect the integrity of campus buildings and grounds
- Maintain a productive learning environment
- Protect local ecosystem health
