GED Option / High School Equivalency Programs (for youth ages 16-18)
There are a variety of reasons for pursuing a high school equivalency certificate rather than a high school diploma to prepare for college and career. Youth between the ages of 16 and 18 may take the test under the following circumstances:
- They are enrolled in a GED Option Program, or a school that has a GED program
- They have parent/guardian permission
- They are an emancipated minor
- They are married
