2024 grant announcement
Oregon Department of Environmental Quality's Reduce, Reuse, Reimagine: Materials Management Grants Program is proud to announce the recipients of the 2024 waste prevention grant cycle!
The 2024 funding area was waste prevention. Waste prevention is an environmentally centered approach to reduce the consumption of natural resources and generation of waste before something becomes trash or pollution. Waste prevention activities reduce waste by changing product design, by using less, by using something longer, or by repairing it.
A total of $1.2 million will be distributed among 14 recipients across the state. The awarded projects align with DEQ's goal of building local capacity and fostering community-driven solutions. These initiatives aim to address the environmental, social and human health impacts created by the production, consumption, use and disposal of materials. Representing 11 different counties, this year's recipients stood out for their vision, creativity, and potential to make a meaningful difference in their communities and beyond.
