We’re pleased to introduce our statewide work as the Public University Coordination team. We are responsible for academic planning and policy coordination related to Oregon's seven public universities. Our staff are part of the Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) Office of Academic Policy and Authorization (APA). Here you can learn about our work and how to contact us if you have questions.
The APA Public University Coordination team leads many efforts, including statewide academic planning and policy, strategic initiatives to support students of
Oregon’s seven public universities, coordination of the academic program approval process, and legislative directives.
We aim to remove barriers, improve equity and student success, and foster streamlined academic pathways for current and future students. Many students in Oregon are served by both community colleges and universities. We collaborate with the
HECC Office of Community Colleges and Workforce Development and other partners on academic and workforce initiatives that support Oregonians. Our work includes the following.
Programs and Initiatives
Our staff also support legislative directives related to sexual misconduct reporting at Oregon higher education institutions, including support of the Sexual Misconduct Survey Council.

Stay Engaged
We receive direction on our work from the HECC Commission, through statutory responsibilities, and through legislation. To learn more about statutory responsibilities, see HECC Statutes and Administrative Rules.
Our public processes are conducted at public meetings of the HECC. Learn how to stay engaged with us, or subscribe to public meeting notices here. We regularly collaborate with partners at the seven public universities, which are governed by independent governing boards, as well with community college and workforce partners, the Oregon Department of Education, and numerous other state and national partners.
