Intermediate Housing Assistance (IHA)

ReOregon's Intermediate Housing Assistance (IHA) program helps current renters whose previous homes were damaged or destroyed by the 2020 Labor Day wildfires or straight-line winds in the impacted counties of Clackamas, Douglas, Jackson, Klamath, Lane, Lincoln, Linn, and Marion.

How IHA helps renters

IHA provides temporary rental and utility assistance, while you look for a permanent home. IHA may be helpful if you are having difficulty finding affordable or alternative housing.

What to expect with IHA

Eligible IHA participants can receive rental and utility assistance for up to 24 months or until the funding is fully spent.[1] Funds will be paid directly to your landlord or rental agent.

In return, you need to:

  • Pay 30% of your monthly household income for rent, while IHA covers the remaining amount.
  • Verify your household income when you begin IHA and then every six months (subject to program rules and updates).
  • Prove that you lived in an affected county and that your home was damaged or destroyed by the 2020 Labor Day wildfires or straight-line winds.[2]
  • Work with case managers on your housing goals to get into permanent housing.

IHA can help as you take more responsibility for your rent. For example, if your income is $1,000 a month, you would pay $300 toward rent (30% of your income), and IHA would cover the rest.

How IHA can benefit you

IHA is designed to help participants obtain safe, affordable temporary housing as they work toward permanent homes. It provides a way to receive support without interruptions, allowing a smooth transition as you work toward a permanent housing solution.

Participating in IHA does not disqualify you from other ReOregon programs.
