Housing Support Services

ReOregon’s Housing Support Services help current renters whose previous homes were damaged or destroyed by the 2020 Labor Day wildfires and straight-line winds to find stable housing.[1] Rental assistance, housing counseling, and help with a down payment on a home are available to current renters who qualify.

Available pathways

Housing Support Services offers three pathways (Intermediate Housing Assistance, Housing Counseling Services, Down Payment Assistance Program) that may suit your housing goals. You only need to fill out one application to be considered for any of the pathways, if you are eligible.

Intermediate Housing Assistance (IHA)

IHA

IHA provides temporary homes and financial support for short-term housing needs such as rent and utility costs. Note that participants are required to pay 30% of their monthly income toward rent.

If you currently get rental assistance through the state-funded Emergency Rental Assistance 2 (ERA2) program, your funding will end on Dec. 31, 2024. However, if you qualify for IHA, you may be able to stay in your current home and keep receiving funding for up to 24 months starting Jan. 1, 2025.

Housing Counseling Services

HCS

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)-certified housing counselors will provide in-depth assistance to individuals and families on a wide range of financial and housing-related topics to create personalized action plans to achieve housing needs and goals. Services may include household budgeting, eviction protection, legal aid, and more.

Down Payment Assistance Program

DPA

This pathway provides help with down payments and closing costs for qualified homebuyers who may need additional financial support.

A home must be purchased within one of the eight affected counties, but it does not have to be in the county where your previous home was damaged or where you currently live.
