Melissa was unanimously appointed by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission as their Interim Executive Director on October 05, 2023.
Melissa Goff grew up in Oregon and has worked in schools of all sizes throughout the state. After earning her teaching degree, Ms. Goff started teaching in Mitchell, Oregon, a small town with 96 students. Melissa was a language arts teacher in Beaverton schools before moving to their testing office. She then went on to get her Master's degree in Education from Portland State University. Melissa helped start Summit High School in Bend-LaPine School District. She worked as both an assistant principal and principal in high schools, and later took on district leadership roles. Most recently, she was the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning for Portland Public Schools. Melissa previously led Philomath and Greater Albany school districts as superintendent. She then coached other superintendents through the Coalition of Oregon School Administrators before becoming deputy executive director at the Oregon School Boards Association. Melissa joined OSBA and then became Education Policy Advisor to Governor Tina Kotek in July 2023. In this role, she led and supported educational issues for all Oregon education agencies. The TSPC Executive Director position became vacant mid-school year. Governor Kotek and the Commission asked Melissa to step in as an interim replacement. This experience has helped her in her role at TSPC.
