EAST provides technical support for ODOT's engineering software users. Our main focus is on MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, OpenSite Designer and associated products. See the Engineering Software page for a detailed list of the software we support and links to online documentation and training for those products.

In order to run CAD software for drafting and design, it is necessary that the software be installed on the computer. See the Engineering Installations page to request installation of engineering software. 

EAST provides informal CAD software training and coordinates training classes for the core CAD curricula. See the Training page for details. 

EAST members maintain the Engineering Archives and act as archivists in both storing and retrieving data. The Engineering Archives are used primarily to store electronic copies of contract plans and files that pertain to the development of the contract plans. See the Engineering Archives page to submit an archive request.

EAST can develop plotting customizations for individual needs, assist engineering staff in the use and customization of CAD workstations, write software for technical and analytical tools, and write customized automation features for Engineering/CAD. Contact an EAST member to discuss your ideas or submit a Request for Work. 

EAST works closely with the Information Systems Technical Solutions Unit to ensure that there is a specified functional equipment model for laptops and desktops that will work with ODOT's CAD system and comply with ODOT and Oregon Department of Administrative Services standards.

 

Technical specifications and recommendations for plotters or printers may be researched and provided by EAST in an effort to minimize future support issues relating to incompatible hardware. 

Geographic Information Services and EAST may be able to help you in translating from one format to another, or in verifying that the data you are translating works as expected.
