We are again at the time of the year when we celebrate and enjoy time with colleagues, family, and friends. This holiday season provides us a
great opportunity to learn more about the cultures and traditions that
surround us.
As we enjoy the holidays, we need to remember that the season often brings unwelcome guests – stress and depression. And it’s no surprise. The holidays come with an array of demands like shopping, cooking meals, baking, more shopping, cleaning, and entertaining – to name just a few. So, let’s keep in our minds those we have lost through the years and those colleagues we know who have lost a loved one.
Here are some helpful seasonal reminders:
- Seek the input of your colleagues when planning section holiday
celebrations.
- Be respectful of those who celebrate different holidays than you or who
do not celebrate any holiday.
- Celebration attendance is voluntary.
- Consider learning about the unique traditions and significance of different holiday practices from your colleagues, family, or friends.
- Remember to respect the personal, religious, or nonreligious beliefs
and cultural practices of our colleagues and community partners.
