Diesel Dispenser Labels
A very brief guide to compliance with diesel dispenser labeling requirements for diesel fuels containing up to 20% biodiesel.
- OAR 603-027-0430
- 16 CFR Part 306
Diesel fuel dispensers must be labeled with:
- Fuel type
- Fuel grade
- Unit price
- Renewable Fuels
Fuel Type
Fuel type is
"Diesel" for all diesel fuels.
Fuel Grade
Fuel grade is one of:
- Number 1
- Number 2
- B5-B20
- B20
Abbreviations are permitted, i.e. No. 2 or #2 in lieu of "Number 2".
Unit Price
Unit price is required for dispensers used to sell diesel fuel to the public. Card Lock dispensers are not required to show unit price unless the site allows non-members to purchase diesel fuel. Unit price may be posted in close proximity to the fuel dispenser as long as there is no ambiguity as to what the retail customer will pay for the fuel sold.
Renewable Fuels Labeling
Biodiesel Blends
- B5 to B20 biodiesel blends
Renewable Diesel Blends
Blends containing both renewable diesel and biodiesel
Compliance can be acheived by labeling the dispenser with both the blue biodiesel and the orange renewable diesel labels or by using a single two component blend label describing the composition of the overal blend. For example:
Renewable fuels label specifications:
- Size: 3" wide by 2.5" tall
- Black band 1" tall
- Font: Helvetica
- Color:
- Blue: HEX FF993B
- Orange: HEX ABCAE9
Additional labeling may be required by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and the Oregon State Fire Marshal.
