Climate Protection Program
The Environmental Quality Commission adopted rules which establish a new Climate Protection Program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and address the effects of climate change. This rulemaking:
- Established a new program to set limits on greenhouse gas emissions from significant sources in Oregon, including large stationary sources, transportation fuels, and other liquid and gaseous fuels;
- Defined regulatory applicability and program requirements; and
- Prioritized equity by promoting benefits and alleviating burdens for environmental justice and impacted communities.
DEQ contracted with ICF to conduct a study to inform program options and advisory committee discussion. More information is available on our Modeling Study on Program Options to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions page.
