Brain Injury Guidelines (BIG)

The State Trauma Advisory Board (STAB) identified an opportunity to support hospitals adopting Brain Injury Guidelines (BIG). Managing patients with TBIs, according to the BIG criteria, has been demonstrated to be safe and, for minimally injured patients, does not require direct evaluation by neurological surgeons. The STAB has recommended hospitals consider adopting BIG 1 guidelines for patients suffering traumatic brain injuries.
