The Speed Zone Review Panel (SZRP) is
established in
OAR
734-020-0015(6). The speed zone review panel was established in 1993 and
was created to conduct hearings for contested speed zones and determine the
speed to be designated. The panels make up and bylaws are contained in
OAR
734-020-0015(6). The panel also serves as an advisory body to the
department on speed zoning issues and practices.
The panel consists of 5 members and three panel members present makes a quorum.
- The chair of the Oregon Transportation Safety Committee or designated representative.
- The superintendent of state police or a designated representative.
- A representative appointed by the League of Oregon Cities.
- A representative appointed by the Association of Oregon Counties.
- The chief engineer of the Department of Transportation or designated representative.
Meeting Format and Location
The SZRP meets on an as needed basis via Microsoft Teams. Sometimes there is an in-person option held at various ODOT buildings in Salem. When an in-person option is available, its location will be made known on appropriate meeting announcements.
