In early 2021, the Recreation, Education and Interpretation (REI) Program engaged in a year-long strategic planning effort to outline both short-term objectives and long-term goals for the newly evolving program. From trails and campgrounds, to day-use areas, wildlife viewing, hunting and fishing, state forestlands provide a unique connection to the land. Whether you set out on a trail on horseback, wheels, or your own two feet, state forests offer one-of-a-kind recreation opportunities for all ages and abilities.

Find a campground, trail, boat launch, or day-use area

The Santiam State Forest largely remains closed in some areas due to damage from 2020 wildfires and windstorms. However, the ODF Recreation, Education, and Interpretation Program is continuing work to reopen all trails and facilities as quickly as possible. On the Clatsop and Tillamook state forests, developed recreation sites (campgrounds, trails, and OHV facilities) are functioning normally and operating within established seasons. Most trails and designated dispersed camping areas remain open year-round, while developed campgrounds are generally open from mid-May through September.
