February is Black History Month

Black Indians in America are people who have both African and Native American roots. Many of them are descendants of African people who were brought to the U.S. as slaves and later escaped to live with Native American tribes. Others have ancestors from both African and Native American backgrounds. These individuals have a unique history and culture, shaped by both African and Native American traditions. Black Indians have faced many challenges, but they are an important part of both African American and Native American communities. Their story is an important part of America's history. The term "Black Indians" encompasses a broad range of experiences and identities, as these communities historically lived in various parts of North America, particularly in the southeastern United States, the Great Plains, and parts of the West.
