Every county has a juvenile department, which typically oversees youth who have committed offenses but are working on treatment while still living in their community. If a youth is committed to OYA, youth are placed outside their home in either a facility, residential program, or foster home.
The goal is when a youth has proven themselves responsible toward the end of their time with OYA, they can be allowed to move back home or live independently.
OYA works closely with county partners to share case planning, ensure efficient services, and reduce recidivism.
