Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP)

The Oregon Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) is a tool to help health care providers offer patients better care in managing their prescriptions. It contains information provided by Oregon-licensed retail pharmacies. Pharmacies submit prescription data to the PDMP system for all Schedules II, III and IV controlled substances dispensed to Oregon residents. The protected health information is collected and stored securely. All Oregon-licensed physicians and PAs who have a DEA number  will be authorized for an account to access information from the PDMP system.

The program was started to support the appropriate use of prescription drugs. The information is intended to help patients and health care providers work together to determine what medications are best for them.

PDMP Registration

ATTENTION: All Oregon-licensed physicians and PAs who have a DEA number were required to register for the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) by July 1, 2018, or upon licensure if licensed after July 1, 2018. Register at https://oregon.pmpaware.net by selecting "Create an Account."  For more information, please review OAR 333-023-0825 or contact the PDMP at 866-205-1222 or pdmp.health@state.or.us.

How to Register:

Required for Registration:
  • Access to a PC, tablet, or smart phone
  • NPI and DEA number
  • Digital copy of government-issued identification, such as passport or state-issued driver license
The most common error and cause of delay is failure to verify registration via email. New registrants must open the verification email from the PDMP and click the “Verify your email” link right away. If they do not receive an email they should check their spam folders.

Oregon also allows voluntary registration to the PDMP for those who do not meet mandatory registration requirements. These include providers without individual unlimited DEA licensure or practicing under institutional or federal facility DEA registrations.

The PDMP is administered by the Oregon Health Authority.  Any questions, concerns, or issues with registration or use of the PDMP should be directed to pdmp.health@state.or.us.
