Oregon's Death with Dignity Act was enacted in 1997, giving terminally-ill patients the power to voluntarily end their lives via the self-administration of lethal medications prescribed by a physician for that sole purpose (see
ORS 127.800 to 127.897).
The Death with Dignity Act requires the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) to collect information about the patients and physicians who participate in the Act, and publish an annual statistical report.
