OHCS is required to provide the following information on this website per provisions within SB 1536 (2022): Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) is required to post dates, counties affected, and information about relevant programs landlords may use to provide adequate cooling to tenants during extreme heat events.

OHCS does not provide legal advice and is not the arbiter of landlord-tenant disputes.

Cooling Programs Funded by SB 1536

  • Landlord cooling spaces - This grant program is being administered by Energy Trust of Oregon. More information
  • DHS cooling space program - Funding is available through the Oregon Department of Human Services' Shelter Grants program. More information
  • Oregon Department of Energy's heat pump incentives include developing programs to deploy and install heat pumps, building a community cooling center, and conducting a cooling needs study. More information
