ORA provides advisory services and financial support for homeowners who need to relocate for a time while repairs or reconstruction are completed on their home. This ensures you have stable place to live while your home is being restored.
1. Advisory Services
- Guidance on local housing options, movers, and storage providers.
- Help in finding and selecting short-term housing that meets your household’s needs.
- Help with completing required forms and relocating
2. Financial Assistance
- Housing Assistance: Monthly housing payments for up to one year, including rental housing, hotel stays, or staying with friends or family.
- Security Deposits: Payment for temporary housing deposits, pet fees, and other needed expenses.
- Moving and Storage Costs: Payments based on the size of your move and how long you need storage (if on-site storage isn’t available).
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for ORA, homeowners must:
- Be enrolled in HARP with a fully executed grant agreement.
- Have relocated as required by the program to complete repairs or reconstruction.
If you are eligible, a HARP relocation specialist will help you through every step of the process.
Relocation Planning Process
After your eligibility is confirmed, your HARP relocation specialist will:
- Collect details about your household’s needs and preferences.
- Recommend short-term housing options based on your needs.
- Coordinate when you will move and ensure enough time to prepare, with at least 30 days’ notice before your relocation date.

If you are notified you are eligible for ORA, do not relocate before talking with your relocation specialist. This ensures you get the full range of assistance available to you.
