Vaccine Accounting Excellence Recognition

We have temporarily suspended our statewide quarterly updates to the most accountable provider list while we focus our efforts on the COVID-19 pandemic response. We hope to resume the list in early 2022. In the meantime, if you want to see how your clinic is doing, you can run the accountability report and follow the instructions for determining if you are meeting the criteria to be on the most accountable list.

CONGRATULATIONS to the clinics who made the list this quarter for achieving vaccine accounting excellence. To acknowledge the hard work of those clinics that are close to meeting the requirement, we report two lists: a gold and a silver category. The gold category lists clinics who have met or exceeded the 95% inventory accountability standard. The silver category lists those clinics who met 85-95% accountability. Your effort improves patient immunization records and assures our federal partners that vaccines are getting to the patients who are entitled to them.

Why we measure vaccine inventory accounting

The Vaccines for Children (VFC) and Vaccine Access (VAP) programs adhere to best practices for vaccine management and inventory accounting. Clinics participating in VFC or VAP are expected to follow best practices for all the vaccine they administer, whether it be provided by the Oregon Immunization Program or purchased with other funds. To ensure best practices, safeguard the public good, and establish financial accountability, the Oregon legislature established a law (OAR 333-047-0040 and OAR 333-049-0050) that requires all VFC/VAP clinics to use the ALERT IIS to report all immunizations given and manage all vaccine inventory, both state-supplied and privately purchased.
