About the board
The Oregon Board of Denture Technology oversees the practice of denturists. Denturists construct, repair, reline, reproduce, duplicate, supply, fit or alter removable prosthetic dental appliances, otherwise known as dentures. In the fitting process, denturists also take impressions, bite registrations, try-ins or insertions. Denturists provide full dentures to replace complete sets of original teeth that are missing in the upper, lower or both sections of the mouth, or partial dentures, which fit sections of the mouth in which some of the original teeth remain.
The Board of Denture Technology consists of seven members appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Oregon Senate:
- four active licensed denturists
- one Oregon licensed dentist in active practice
- two public members who do not possess the professional qualifications of other members and who are not a spouse, domestic partner, child, parent or sibling of an active licensed denturist or dentist
The term of office of each member is three years, but a member serves at the pleasure of the governor.
