WIC's fruit & veggie benefit gets another temporary change

What's happening

  • WHAT:  WIC's fruit and vegetable benefit amounts have been increased by $1-2 to adjust for inflation. Congress voted to approve these amounts through September 2023.
  • WHEN: Now through September 30, 2023.
  • WHO: Every WIC participant 13 months old and older.
  • WHERE: Benefits will automatically loaded to participant eWIC cards.
  • WHAT TO DO: Check your current eWIC card balance before you shop. You can check your WIC benefit balance through the WICShopper app, the ebtEdge.com website, by calling ebtEdgeSM customer service toll-free at 1-844-234-4946, or by checking the remaining balance printed on your last WIC shopping receipt.

Q&A

How long will this last?

The temporary increase is currently set to expire on September 30, 2023.

How much will I get?

Amounts you can expect to see from October 1, 2022  through September 2023 are:

  • $25 per month for each child over 13 months of age
  • $44 per month for pregnant and non-breastfeeding participants
  • $49 per month for fully and mostly breastfeeding participants

Where are my benefits?

Oregon WIC staff are working to load the fruit and veggie increase to your eWIC card as quickly as possible, and we appreciate your patience. If you don't see your updated benefits by October 15th, contact us through Messenger.

Why isn't this a permanent change?

The funding amounts are set by Congress, and right now, they have only authorized funding through September 2023. We won't know the benefit amounts for January and beyond until Congress has another vote.
