Drought & Water Insecurity

Drought is when an area experiences drier than normal conditions. Despite Oregon's reputation for having a surplus of water, the state has experienced multiple droughts, including prolonged droughts in Eastern Oregon. With hotter days on record, droughts will continue to be more commonly seen and this places extra stress on water security in regards to agriculture, access to safe and clean water in domestic wells, and insufficient supply to public water systems.
