Avian Influenza

The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) is actively collaborating with the Oregon Department of Agriculture to monitor the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) A(H5) outbreak among livestock in the United States. At this time, there have been no HPAI oubreaks in Oregon dairy cattle. The current risk to the general public from HPAI is very low. All people in Oregon exposed to infected animals are monitored by public health through 10 days following their last exposure. Additional surveillance for avian influenza in humans includes subtyping of influenza A-positive specimens and wastewater surveillance for the influenza A(H5) subtype
