Oregon Alliance Working for Antibiotic Resistance Education (AWARE) is dedicated to reducing the problem of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in Oregon. Veterinarians have an important role in this initiative.
We are partnering with the University of Minnesota to provide veterinary continuing education (CE) units related to antibiotic stewardship.
The following resources will fulfill the CE requirements of 1-hour judicious use of antibiotics outlined in
chapter 875-010-0090 of the Veterinary Medical Examining Board.
Veterinary Continuing Education (CE) Unit Opportunities
Please complete each learning module and quiz. Quiz results will be reviewed once every two weeks. A passing score of 70% is required to receive a certificate.
One Health Module
The One Health Module is eligible for
1.0 CE.

Microbiology Module
The Microbiology Module is eligible for 0.5 CE.
This module addresses the intricate science behind the antibiotic resistance phenomenon. It will explain what takes place within the bacterial cell to enable antimicrobial resistance and how it can be detected and measured. These basic principles should be a useful resource for client education and for reinforcing the veterinarian's role in protecting the public's health.
