The Communicable Disease Testing section provides screening, diagnostic and reference testing (virology, immunology and microbiology) for communicable diseases.
The Northwest Regional Newborn Screening Program screens newborns for rare but serious health problems like Cystic Fibrosis and other metabolic conditions.
OSPHL provides training and support for clinical, food testing, veterinary diagnostic and environmental laboratories (referred to as sentinel labs) that can provide a coordinated and immediate response to biological and chemical threats.
The Oregon Laboratory Compliance Section contracts with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to carry out the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA). This section also oversees Health Screen Testing permits (HST), and Substance of Abuse (SOA) registrations in Oregon.
