About the reports
Children’s health complexity data and reports include children enrolled in the Oregon Health Plan (OHP, Medicaid) and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). The reports below are the state, CCO, and county-level health complexity reports. The latest statewide report contains data for children ages 0 through 20 years old, who were residing in Oregon as of January 2023. The latest CCO reports contain data for children, 0 through 20 years old, who were enrolled in that CCO as of January 2023. The latest county reports contain data for children, 0 through 20 years old, who resided in that county as of January 2023.
- Note: The methodology uses Oregon birth records to identify parent/family information, which is a critical component for seven of the 12 social complexity factors. In 2022 reporting, it was not possible to link the child to either parent for 24% of children in the statewide dataset, therefore parent/family social complexity information is not available for these children.
Last year, OHA also produced choropleth (heat) maps showing medical and social complexity variation by county.
See the four maps.
The 2022 data reports were run using the version 3.2 of the Pediatric Medical Complexity Algorithm.

See the data dictionary for details about data sources used for the social complexity indicators.
- 2022 reports used data from APAC and include data for children ages 0-20
- 2021 reports used data from APAC and include data for children ages 0-20
- 2020 reports used data from APAC and include data for children ages 0-20
- 2019 reports used Medicaid data and include data for children ages 0-18
