TV Highway Pedestrian Safety Project (Aloha): SW 153rd Drive to SW 182nd Avenue
This project improves safety for people walking, rolling and bicycling by installing a crosswalk with a pedestrian-activated flashing beacon at the intersection of OR 8 at SW 174th Avenue in Aloha and a buffered bicycle lane from SW 153rd Drive to SW 182nd Avenue. Construction began in Jan. 2025 and continues until summer 2025.

OR 8 Fiber Optic Cable Project
We are installing new overhead and underground fiber optic cable where gaps exist along OR 8 between SW 198th Avenue and OR 217. Work began in Feb. 2025 and continues through fall 2025.

Canyon Road Pedestrian Safety Project (Beaverton)
A partnership project between ODOT, the City of Beaverton and Metro improves pedestrian safety on SW Canyon Road (OR 8) from SW Hall Boulevard to SW Cedar Hills Boulevard in Central Beaverton. Work includes building two new crosswalks, ADA-accessible sidewalk curb ramps, a pedestrian-activated flashing beacon, improved lighting and a landscaped center median. Construction is expected to begin in summer 2025 and continue for approximately one year.

OR 8 Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Project (Hillsboro and Forest Grove)
This safety improvement project in three locations on OR 8 in Hillsboro and Forest Grove includes new sidewalks, an enhanced pedestrian crosswalk, new lighting and upgraded traffic signals. Construction begins in 2026.

OR 8 at East Lane (Cornelius) Pedestrian Safety Project
This safety project makes pedestrian upgrades on OR 8 at East Lane in Cornelius, including a new crosswalk and pedestrian-activated flashing beacon, improved lighting, upgraded ADA sidewalk ramps and pedestrian island. Construction began in Sept. 2023 and will finished in 2024.
View the project website.Canyon Road Improvements: SW 110th Avenue to SW 192 AvenueThis project improves safety at nine intersections on Canyon Road/OR 8 between SW 110th Avenue and SW 192nd Avenue in Beaverton and Aloha. Construction began August 2022 and finished in Nov. 2023.
View the project website. OR 8 at River Road Safety Project (Hillsboro) This project improves safety by replacing traffic lights, pedestrian signals, railroad markings and illumination at this intersection in Hillsboro. Construction finished in summer 2022.
OR 8 Safety Improvements at SE 44th/45th Avenue (Hillsboro)
This safety project made pedestrian upgrades on OR 8 at SE 44th/45th Avenue, including a new flashing beacon at the crosswalk, improved lighting and upgraded ADA sidewalk ramps. Construction finished in March 2021.
OR 8 Safety Improvements at OR 219 (Hillsboro)
This completed safety project will reduce crashes at the intersections of Oak Street and Baseline Street with OR 219 (S 1st Avenue) in downtown Hillsboro. The project included new traffic signals and signs, improved lighting, upgraded ADA ramps and a new dedicated left-turn lane on OR 219 onto SW Oak Street. Construction finished in March 2021.
