Geology and Geotechnical

Geotechnical Engineering

Geotechnical Engineering services include the evaluation and design of earth structures, identifying effective ways to use earth and rock materials in construction, characterizing ground capabilities to support structural loads, evaluating foundation systems, evaluating the constructability of geotechnical project elements.

Engineering Geology

Engineering Geology is the discipline of applying geologic data, techniques and principles to the study of naturally occurring soil and rock materials, and surface and subsurface fluids.

This engineering discipline allows the Oregon Department of Transportation to incorporate geologic factors into its planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of engineered structures in the state highway system.
