As a direct recipient of Federal Transit Administration funds, the Oregon Department of Transportation Public Transportation Division awards project funding to transit agencies for the purchase of a variety of capital assets. The Federal Transit Administration requires us to maintain continuous control of these assets.
Every agency receiving capital grant funds must develop a written maintenance plan for federally-funded vehicles, major equipment, and facilities.
Understand asset management responsibilities
The federal Transit Asset Management Final Rule, effective October 1, 2016, defines the term state of good repair and establishes minimum requirements for transit asset management. This applies to all recipients of Federal financial assistance (under 49 U.S.C. Chapter 53) who own, operate, or manage public transportation capital assets.
