Working and Your Disability Benefits

Free benefits counseling from certified professionals

Many Oregonians with disabilities worry that if they go to work, they will lose all their federal and state benefits. But that's not usually the case. There are special programs that can help you keep your benefits when you start working. These are called work incentives.

Oregon has two free benefits counseling programs for people with disabilities who are interested in working. Certified benefits counselors help you understand how working might affect your benefits.

Work Incentives Network

  • Do you have a disability and receive public benefits like SSI, SSDI, SNAP, housing assistance, Medicare or Medicaid?
  • Are you working or do you want to work?
  • Do you have questions about how working might affect your benefits?

If you answered "yes" to these questions, the Work Incentives Network (WIN) can help!

Benefits counselors are located in Independent Living Centers across Oregon. They can help you understand how going back to work might affect your benefits. They can also tell you about work incentives that can help you keep your benefits.

Call or email the WIN Help Desk to get answers to your questions.
