The Plant Health Program provides general plant pest and disease diagnostic services for the nursery industry, Christmas tree industry, other governmental agencies, and the general public.

What tests do we provide?

We can screen for the following plant pathogens: bacteria, fungi, nematodes, phytoplasmas, and viruses. For insect identification services, please contact the Insect Pest Prevention and Management program.

How do I submit a sample?

Samples can be submitted by appointment only, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Plant Health laboratory, located at the North Valley Complex, 26755 SW 95th Ave, Wilsonville, OR 97070

Samples—not including cannabis—can also be mailed, with payment, to the Plant Health Lab. For all samples, payment is due at the time of submission.

How much does a diagnosis cost and what does it include?

We charge $70 per sample for disease diagnosis. This includes a consultation with Plant Health Program staff and an overall evaluation, including a microscopic exam and culturing and visual identification of potential pathogens. Additional tests may be included at the submitter’s request to confirm diagnoses, and will be billed accordingly.
