Phoenix Urban Growth Boundary

Introduction

The Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD) received a submittal on October 17, 2022, from the City of Phoenix and Jackson County regarding an amendment of the Phoenix urban growth boundary. The amendment removes approximately 50 acres and adds approximately 528 acres, including an approximately 250-acre urbanized area which was substantially damaged in the Almeda Fire.

Director's Decision Approving the City of Phoenix UGB Submittal

The Department held a 21-day comment period consistent with state law, during which any objections to the proposal could be submitted, and then had 120 days to either approve the submittal, remand the submittal, or refer the submittal to the Land Conservation and Development Commission. The Director issued an order approving the amendment on December 19th, 2022.
