Employment Opportunities
The staff at the South Slough Reserve is drawn to the same mission: improving the understanding and stewardship of Pacific Northwest estuaries and coastal watersheds. Anyone aligned with this mission—including Black, Brown, Indigenous, Latinx, and applicants from other minority communities—are encouraged to apply to job openings at the Reserve. Being based in one of the most beautiful natural areas in the Pacific Northwest and having wonderful colleagues are undeniable perks.
Intern at the Reserve
The Reserve’s internship program creates opportunities for interested college and high school students, as well as adults, to gain knowledge, skills, and work experience in the field of natural science. Reserve staff work with interns to create individualized programs that match their interests in the sciences, research, education, stewardship, forestry, customer service and more. Ready to elevate your education to the next level? Complete an internship application.
Volunteer with Us
Volunteers help to enhance and expand the work of the Reserve, aiding it to achieve its mission. Whether it is one hour a week, one day a week, or just assisting with a one-time special project, the efforts of our volunteers help make this a special place.
Conduct Research
South Slough Reserve’s unique protected status makes the surrounding area a living laboratory. The Reserve’s wetlands, waterways, and forested areas offer ample opportunity for research that helps contribute to understanding of natural processes and survey the impacts of climate change, land use, and invasive species.
