Healthcare Workforce Reporting

The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) created the Health Care Workforce Reporting Program to collaborate with health profession licensing boards to collect health care workforce data via their licensing renewal process to:

  • Understand Oregon's health care workforce;
  • Inform public and private educational and workforce investments, Oregon's health care workforce; and
  • Inform policy recommendations for the Governor's Office, legislative leadership and state agencies regarding Oregon's health care workforce.

The Oregon Board of Physical Therapy has worked with OHA since 2009 to provide this information about Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants in Oregon.

Seventeen Oregon Boards require the completion of the survey at renewal for their licensees.

Accessing Reports and Results

OHA publishes reports on the data received annually. Please note- the Oregon Board of Physical Therapy only renews licenses biannually, during spring of even numbered years. As a result- the most recent reporting may not accurately represent the current PT workforce, but rather, the PT workforce at the most recent renewal.

Information for Licensees

Completion of the OHA Workforce survey is mandatory at every renewal. Licensees may choose to decline to answer the individual questions within the survey- but we hope that you'll choose to answer as many questions as possible in order to help OHA accurately estimate the workforce within the state.

An individual licensee's answers are not shared outside of OHA or OBPT, but are aggregated with other licensee data to help guide policymaking.

An application for renewal cannot be processed until the survey is completed.

A $4 fee is charged by OHA to cover the costs of administering the survey. This fee was authorized by the legislature when the Workforce survey was initially conceived in 2009. Between 2009 and 2022, the PT board absorbed this fee for licensees. Beginning in 2022, the Board elected to split this fee out for the first time, in part to provide licensees with greater transparency about where your fees are going, and in part to align our practices with the other sixteen boards who require completion of the survey at every renewal.
