All youth who have not yet completed a GED or high school diploma are required to attend school. Camp Florence has a school on site to help students earn high school and college credits.
Ocean Dunes High School has a similar structure to other public schools, including:
- A principal, certified teachers, and other support staff.
- A fully digital campus with computers and laptops for all students.
- A five-period school day.
- Educational goals that require them to work toward earning a high school diploma or GED.
If they have already earned their high school diploma, students can take college courses online or in person at Ocean Dunes. These courses are also available as dual high school/college credit courses through a partnership with Lane Community College.
If a youth is meeting behavioral and educational goals, they may have the chance to participate in supervised and unsupervised work crews in the community and earn money for this work.
Work crews are an important step in helping youth develop their judgment and problem-solving skills, which are vital to successfully transitioning into the community.
