About
Many water use permits and water
rights contain a condition that requires the water user to periodically measure
the static water level in their well(s) and report that data to the Department.
These water levels help hydrogeologists understand the groundwater levels in
the region better, provide a baseline for water levels in an aquifer or basin,
and allow us to regulate on permit decline conditions.
Reporting
Requirements
To view your reporting
requirements, you can search for your water right in Water Rights Information
System (WRIS).
Your
water right outlines:
1. What information to submit
2. Who is qualified to take
measurement
3. How many years are necessary to
report
4. When to take & how to submit
the static measurement
The
Department’s forms must be used to report the data.
To submit water levels, please fill out our online form using the button below:

Failure to report may lead to
enforcement. While we send courtesy reminder letters to permit holders with
water level reporting requirements, it is up to the permit holder to submit a
required annual static water level measurement regardless of whether a reminder
letter was received.
