Background:
OPRD
is considering proposed changes to rules to adjust ranges for rates
charged for camping and use of other facilities in state parks.
Once
rate ranges are adopted into rule, the state parks director has
authority to adjust fees based on visitation patterns, increased costs,
and seasonal fluctuations up to four times per year. The first rate
ranges were adopted into rule in 2018 and implemented by the department
in 2019.
Adjustments
to rate ranges are necessary to respond to increases in utility costs,
operations and maintenance needs and inflation. Increasing the rate
ranges, does not mean that fees charged per night will increase
automatically, but will provide the agency flexibility to adjust fees as
conditions change in coming years.

Day Use Parking Permit Fee Rate Ranges:
Proposed
rules will create rate ranges for day use parking permits, similar to
campsite and other facilities in state parks. Day use parking permit
rates have not increased since 2009. Proposed rules would make the
following changes to day use parking permit rates:
Public Comment Period:
Public comments were accepted from July 1st through August 30th.
Four public hearings were held for the public to provide comments.

on camping facilities and programs.
