About Legal Assistance
The Office of the Staff Judge Advocate (OSJA) offers legal assistance services to Oregon National Guard Servicemembers (SM) during Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) Inactive Duty Training (IDT) (i.e., drill weekends). A legal assistance attorney may assist with the following topics:
1. Estate planning (wills, powers of attorney);
2. Servicemember Civil Relief Act (SCRA) protections;
3. Family support obligation;
4. FLIPL rebuttal;
5. Potential Lautenburg-qualifying conviction;
6. Referred OER / NCOER;
7. Memorandum of reprimand; and
8. USERRA (Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act) protections

For assistance regarding topics not listed above, call the Oregon State Bar (OSB) at 800-452-8260 or 503-620-0222. The OSB Military Assistance panel may offer services at reduced costs, or attorneys referred by the OSB may offer services at reduced costs to the public through the Modest Means Program.
