Advisory Commission Purpose
The Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Advisory Commission (PDMP-AC) is created for the purposes of:
- Studying issues related to the PDMP.
- Reviewing the program's
Annual Report and making recommendations to the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) regarding the operation of the program.
- Developing criteria used to evaluate program data.
OHA provides staff support and work with Advisory Commission members to convene and organize Commission meetings.

For 2024, the PDMP Advisory Commission will be set-up in a virtual platform on the follow dates January 19th, April 19th,
July 19th (July meeting has been canceled) and October 18th. Meetings begin at 1:00 p.m.

Member Representation
The Advisory Commission shall consist of 12 members appointed by OHA as follows:
- A person nominated by the Pain Management Commission
- A person who dispenses controlled substances nominated by an association representing pharmacists
- A practicing dentist nominated by an association representing dentists
- A practicing physician nominated by an association representing physicians
- A practicing doctor of osteopathy nominated by an association representing osteopathic physicians and surgeons
- A nurse authorized to prescribe controlled substances nominated by an association representing nurses
- A practicing naturopathic physician nominated by an association representing naturopathic physicians
- A practicing optometrist, nominated by an association representing optometrists
- A person nominated by the department from a division of the department responsible for administering addiction services
- Three members of the public nominated by the department, one of whom must be an expert in information technology.
Membership Terms
The term of office of each member of the PDMP Advisory Commission is for four years, but a member serves at the pleasure of the OHA. Before the expiration of the term of a member, the department shall appoint a successor whose term will begin July 1 of the following term. A member is eligible for reappointment. If there is a vacancy for any cause, the department shall make an appointment to become effective immediately.
Statutory Rules of Operation
Statute lists the following rules of operation for the Advisory Commission:
- The Commission shall elect one of its members to serve as Chairperson.
- The Commission shall meet at least once annually at a time and place specified by the chairperson of the Commission. The Commission may meet at other times and places specified by the call of the chairperson or of a majority of the members of the Commission.
- The Commission may adopt rules necessary for the operation of the Commission.
- A majority of the members of the Commission constitutes a quorum for the transaction of business.
- Official action by the Commission requires the approval of a majority of the members of the Commission.
- OHA shall provide staff support to the Commission.
- All agencies of state government, as defined in ORS 174.111, are directed to assist the Commission in the performance of its duties and, to the extent permitted by laws relating to confidentiality, to furnish such information and advice as the members of the Commission consider necessary to perform their duties.
