Description | This interactive training focuses on participant-centered counseling and support for breastfeeding families in WIC. Topics include breastfeeding barriers and myths, milk production basics, managing early breastfeeding challenges, breastfeeding positions and attachment, solutions for common breastfeeding problems, appropriate uses of breastfeeding aids and pumps, navigating the first year of breastfeeding, and the weaning process.
*Beginning Fall 2020 this course is provided remotely using Zoom web conferencing platform.
Detailed instructions will be provided to staff registered for the course. |

Prerequisites | - WIC Level 1 Breastfeeding Course - 2 modules (~1.5 hours)
- WIC PCE Course - Introduction + 9 modules (~2.5 - 3 hours)
- WIC Baby Behaviors - first 6 of the 9 modules (~1.5 hours)

Posttest | The Breastfeeding Basics posttest is available on Workday Learning here.

Certifier Academy
Level 3 Certifier Academy

Target audience | WIC Certifiers (CPAs) who have completed all Level 1 and 2 training modules and online courses and have been working as a Certifier for 6 months or more. |

Description
| The academy is designed to build more advanced nutrition-focused counseling skills.
It consists of 3 parts:
- A 7-month learning cohort conducted via Skype;
- The option to work with an experienced mentor;
- A 1-day face-to-face training
