EHAP was asked by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) to evaluate the public health significance of exposure to asbestos at this site, one of 28 major former processors nationwide of vermiculite from Libby, Montana.
EHAP investigated the site and completed a Public Health Consultation or PHC to determine the public health implications from past, present and future exposure pathways to asbestos in Libby vermiculite processed at this facility.
The PHC concluded that former workers and their families were exposed to asbestos.
