Reporting Unsafe Lead-based Paint Work Practices

The following unsafe work practices may create lead hazards:

  • Open flame burning or torching
  • Machine sanding and grinding without containing the dust and debris (containment)
  • Hydro blasting and pressure washing without containment
  • Abrasive and sand blasting without containment
  • Dry sanding and scraping without containment

To make a report

If the possible violation involves a CCB-licensed contractor, contact the Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB).

If the possible violation involves an OHA-certified lead abatement firm or an individual NOT licensed by the CCB (landlord, property manager, school or childcare facility) contact the Oregon Health Authority.

Enforcement

The Oregon Health Authority and the Construction Contractors Board have enforcement authority under Oregon ORS 431A.355 to suspend, revoke or modify a certification to perform lead-based paint activities or renovation if the holder of the certification fails to comply with state or federal statutes or regulations related to lead-based paint.
