Investing in Staff Professional Development

Project Goal

Develop, expand, and raise awareness about dedicated professional development supports across the Agency. Pilot the employee mentorship program, including lessons learned, to inform future professional development activities.

Most Recent Project Update

OHA is committed to developing its workforce and providing staff the opportunities to grow. The project team is updating the catalog of all trainings, internally and externally, available to staff and will be socializing this catalog over the next few months.

Improving Employee Engagement

Project Goal

Annually measure employee engagement and satisfaction through assessments like Gallup and develop and sustain metrics to assess improvement over time. Create action plans at the agency and manager levels to improve employee engagement and satisfaction via targeted activities and to foster a happy, supported workforce that feels proud, empowered, and appreciated to work at OHA.

Most Recent Project Update

OHA has recently partnered with Gallup to help understand staff sentiments towards engagement and satisfaction through an annual survey. Insights from this survey are then used to identify learning gaps and develop action plans to address these learning gaps. The project team is just launched the 2024 survey, which will run through December 2024.

Implementing the OHA Equitable Hiring Policy

Project Goal

Advance equitable hiring strategies and professional development pathways to ensure OHA staff composition reflects the communities served and enhances staff competencies and career trajectories.

Most Recent Project Update

The project team is establishing the workgroup that will draft the Equitable Hiring Policy. This workgroup will begin with a discovery phase to understand the current hiring gaps and opportunities to create a more equitable hiring process. As the policy is drafted, an Equitable Hiring Toolkit will be developed and refined to help implement and operate these new/updated hiring processes.

Launching an Agency-wide Staff Recognition Program

Project Goal

Empower our workforce and foster a clear sense of belonging and appreciation from leadership for their contributions to the Agency through a formal process to reward and recognize teams and staff that embody each of OHA’s seven Agency values (Equity, Service Excellence, Integrity, Leadership, Partnership, Innovation, and Transparency).

Most Recent Project Update

Recruitment is underway for the team that will be driving the Staff Recognition Program project. This project will be creating an award program that will highlight and recognize staff and teams for their work towards OHA’s mission and goals.

Lowering Vacancy Rates

Project Goal

Set clear vacancy and attrition targets. Implement strategic, targeted recruitment strategies to decrease vacancy rates by 5% annually for the next two years. Streamline hiring processes to support quicker hiring and onboarding.

Most Recent Project Update

The project team completed a detailed assessment of divisional vacancy rates and drivers and is now defining the approach for evaluating the efficacy of current hiring and onboarding processes. The findings from this assessment will help inform the process improvement recommendations to be implemented in Spring 2025.

Promoting Workplace Wellness

Project Goal

Analyze and implement priority recommendations from the staff-developed Strategic Wellness Plan and Organizational Resilience and Healing Policy to support workplace healing and resiliency.

Most Recent Project Update

Work on the Strategic Wellness Plan began before the TABI launch and is continuing steadily through the various recommendations within the plan. The Organizational Resilience and Healing Approach policy has been completed and workplans are currently being developed for each recommendation. Select recommendations will then be implemented through 2025.
