We installed new curve warning signs, upgraded existing signs, and replaced signals in about 50 locations to improve safety on the Historic Highway between Troutdale and Hood River. Intersections where we installed signs included:
- Troutdale: The Historic Highway between Stark Street and Jordan Road, near the Sandy River Bridge.
- Hood River: The intersections of:
- Cascade Avenue and 20th Street,
- U.S. 30 and OR 35
- U.S. 30 (Oak Street) and 13th Street (signal replacement).

Project cost: $577,497
Benefits
These improvements increased sight distance by removing tree limbs and other obstacles, added advance-warning and curve signs to alert drivers approaching intersections and sharp turns, or helped drivers better understand when they can safely travel through an intersection.
Additional Information
Over the next several years, we have many construction projects planned on I-84 between I-205 and Hood River, and on the Historic Columbia River Highway between Troutdale and Hood River.
